Team Guidelines
Rules and guidelines for new teams wanting to join the UMKL
Note
Please visit Information for universities wanting to join for general information about joining the UMKL.
Name
The name by which your team will be known in the UMKL
- Team names must be 10 characters or less
- Do not use numbers or special characters
- Choose a simple name that most people recognise your university by. For example, a suitable name for the University of Staffordshire's team would be "Staffs", as this is what the university is most known as colloquially
Colour
The colour is a core part of a team's identity
- Your colour must be sufficiently visible across all Discord themes. Your team colour is the role colour your team will receive on Discord, and will be used as an accent colour across various UMKL graphics, so consider colour contrast with dark and light modes when picking. Please use the colour picker below:

Below are already existing team colours:
- Must be used in the command as a hex colour code
- Feel free to use your university's official colours, although make sure they are visible on Discord
- Must not be similar to other team's colours
- Cannot be completely white or completely black
- Your colour may be slightly altered by board members if deemed necessary
Emblem
Your team will be represented through your emblem, this does not need to be submitted immediately upon your team's creation
- The team should submit their own emblem, which will be used for all graphics in the league
- Should be of a 1:1 (square) ratio and submitted as a .png file (with transparency)
- Should represent your university, team name, or location, rather than just Mario or Nintendo. This ensures each emblem has a unique feel from one another, it also enables your team to be easily recognised by people outside of the league
- Must not be similar to other team's emblems
- Your emblem may be altered by board members if deemed necessary
If you are unsure about your emblem, please contact a board member for advice
